Researching Fashion WP Post

Using the strategies that we’ve developed in class so far, write a 300 word WordPress post that reflects on how both pieces use research—not only the types of sources, but their methodology, the expertise they bring, and the breath of research—to make a case for their respective audiences (considering voice, publication & genre). How do their different media (print on the web vs audio podcast) encourage them to present research in a different way?

In the Rebecca Onion article, she is leaning heavy on the information she refers to throughout the article she wrote. But states that she does not know the true origins of the sources she used to prove her points. But makes some attempt to find at least part of a citation to majority of her sources. Her sources do seem like primary sources from the 1920-1940’s.

In the Podcast, “Stuff Your another Never Told You”, the two women, Anney and Samantha, seem to just be talking with some partial nonsense? They make some points about clothes being made over seas and they even state that, “it’s not secret that most of clothes worn in america is made from over seas.” But then they don’t say where they heard that from. It kind of seems like they quickly googled most of there information without actually seeing the source or where the source was used and what context it was in. They complain about fast-fashion, but you can argue that they are fast-sourcing their information as well.

Knowing that these two different mediums were presented differently kind of shows there reliability. It seems that within an article posted online needs to really show there sources in a factual way to be taken seriously, whereas, the podcast it’s not really seen as necessary. I do not mean to discredit all podcasts, it just seems like this podcast show is more for entertainment purposes then actual facts to be proven more.
